We're not talking about some vague concept of adding value. We're talking about a deep commitment to enhance the lives of those you teach. Why is this so important? It is the single most effective tool any teacher can employ. Think about your own life - if you call a company and they just want to make money from you, you can tell instantly can't you? But if you call a company and they're willing to do whatever it takes to make your life easier, solve your problems, meet your needs and answer your questions - don't you just love it?
Nurture another golden goose. Identify a friend or a loved one running on fumes. Pick up her kids after school, take over the scout meeting for her, bring her a home-cooked dinner (just double your batch) and leave it on the step. Why do we have to wait until we are struck down with a catastrophic illness or event to reach out to each other? Let's start a prevention program with our circle of women before the goose is cooked.
golden teacher From the very beginning set the standards for behaviour high. 'Jump' on early problems immediately. (One of the guiding principles of a successful principal I worked with was this: If you are particular to make sure all the simple issues of discipline are concentrated on, e.g. good manners, being on time, correct dress and so on, the students are so concerned about being 'caught' that the more serious offences never seem to develop. It is important to note here that it is much easier to 'loosen up' on discipline later than to tighten up at a later date.
growkit golden teacher One thing I learned in my years working in schools as a teacher and administrator is that if you want your students to learn something, the best way to make it happen is to teach it to them. This sounds pretty simplistic. If I wanted students to learn to solve a mathematics problem, I taught them the steps to solving that kind of problem. Then we would practice it. This was all a part of the curriculum.
Of course, before you test new teaching approaches, you need to be testing and measuring what you are already doing. For example, the number of teachers who stand up and teach every day and have never accurately measured the response and therefore don't know if they are getting through - is scary.

You might also learn of some talent the student has to help engage him/her successfully in class work. Knowing these things about your students will help tailor the ways in which you react to a student's behaviour. (I had an horrific evening after I had admonished strongly a male student sent to me for disciplining. He disappeared from the school. I then found out from the golden teacher he was suicidal. Fortunately for me, all was well).

It surprised me, too, when with the help of my spiritual teacher I looked more closely at the business I had created and saw many things about it (and myself) that needed to shift.

I could almost hear the song of Whales and light flute music here in the center of Los Angeles, California. The usual whiff of noxious fumes was strangely not noticed. I sat on the green lawn drinking my soda doing a Yoga asana (stretching) and judging myself tremendously aloud to a woman next to me.

I teach about conscious entrepreneurship, I make it a discipline to be awake and aware to what's really happening in my business. I focus on the conscious journey I'm on. And, yet I was asleep in some ways. I felt such compassion for myself that I hadn't truly listened to the depths of my soul and what it was saying to me, and I felt compassion for all entrepreneurs who are asleep in some way in their business.

Not understanding this dream made me take my first dream interpretation class. I learned from the teacher, with confirmation from an old spiritualist minister, (they did not know each other) that the glowing man was the Ascended Master, Lord Sananda, who also had an incarnation as Jesus. The lions of gold atop the cover signified soul accomplishments. A golden lion almost always means this in a “soul level” dream. How fitting that the record of our past lives is “covered” by our collective Souls' accomplishments! This book was the Akashic Records.
